Cold overcast day…a little windy and day before a big storm comes through should be great fishing. It started out very slow and Just slowly improved as the day went on. The Solunar table didn’t seem to have much effect on it today but the barometric pressure change was noticeable as it lowered the fishing got better. The fish and shad just want to be out in the deep. This winter has been a roller coaster of temperatures.

Rainouts! Weather does what it wants. It’s part of the business that we have to except but it always drives me crazy when we can’t fish.

Just a slow day on the big pond. Everyone I spoke with and every boat we had out just didn’t have hardly any luck. I am not much for doing it unless it’s the only way but I even tried the dead stick and didn’t get any results. I do not like it “who does” and we tried really hard but all the areas we have been fishing water is very dirty the lake came up very fast and they have sucked it back down really quick. You better believe Fishing gets affected with the floodgates running and cold dirty water coming in. Like a bathtub with the drain plug pulled. At times it does affect them BIG TIME as the mud settles and silt is rolling along the bottom. I have seen this before from time to time hopefully it will get better soon.

SLOW AGAIN

Scheduled to go out at 10:30 when I arrived at the dock I checked with some of the guys who were out fishing already. Well everyone said it was terribly slow again. One boat had a small flurry of activity under gulls early but then back to grinding. We went north and fished our butts off and although it wasn’t great it was an improvement over the last 2 days.  Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram.

Well, they just keep dropping the lake, We always get nervous when they do this during the winter approaching spawn time but 90% of the time they are always right and the water comes and we end up over pool. The fog today was insane we went out at 8:30 AM and it never cleared until after two you could not see anything I always laugh in my head when this happens and think how did I do this without this map for all those years. It is very spooky and disorienting out there really easy to lose your bearings. The stripers were in a way better mood today. After a few tough days I must say it really felt good to have a successful day. It was not back to normal and we fish all over the lake…a very long day but the results were good. I had some real tough guys in the boat who were ready to go to the distance and I appreciated that it sure paid off.

I like his drop in several inches a day due to the flood gates being on. I know they are just prepping for spring rains but it is not helping things at all. Today was a very cold windy day we left out at 11 fish for six hard hours worked our butts off caught a few but it was not easy.

Old school hardcore Texoma fishermen…Been fishing on the lake as long as I’ve been born. I love taking guys like this fission they understand what it’s all about and enjoy the thrill of the hunt. The fishing action improved a little but it still took all day to catch em. The fish have really wanted the sassy shad ground along the bottom on structure lately. At times you’re almost not even graphing the Fish they’re so close to the bottom. Pretty much a couple of different bites either they “float” it so to speak and the lure “disappears” or they grab it in motion and give you a good strike. Been tricky, to say the least, and lots of concentration required. Definitely looking forward to easier fishing but we are all very spoiled up here on this big border lake.

Same guys pretty much same results. I tried different areas that the water was clean. We caught a few more than yesterday but was it that the fish were feeding better or was it better because the guys were just more in tune with what was going on. Who knows there are no rules when dealing with Mother Nature.

Another beautiful day on the water for this time of year. Fishing was slow but somewhat steady today. Been very little to no wind lately. This is very rare for Lake Texoma which is nicknamed “TEXOCEAN” Takes 5 to 7 hours of keeping a bait in the water fishing to catch 10 to 20 fish.  Somewhere between awesome and awful…that’s what it’s been the last few days.

Floodgates have been turned off fishing should start improving. I am so ready for this to happen. Water will settle and start to clear up some. I’m seeing some evidence that they’re doing a weird little false spawn type of thing right now. It’s not the first time I’ve seen it and not everyone agrees but it’s definitely one those strange this that happens and up for debate. Worked very hard for 10 fish today and could’ve got some more but guys had dinner plans and we went in at 4 o’clock. It was another beautiful and windless day.

I did not fish today and try not to on Sundays. My boys had baseball camp and then, of course, the Super Bowl. Wow-what a game Pat & his chiefs are something else! I heard the fishing was very very slow.  For more information please follow Striper Express.
