Feb. 2020-Lake Texoma Striper Fishing report

2-10-20
Water elevation 616.49
Water temperature 47-48

Weather was pretty turbulent but we had a window before the big storms we’re going to hit so we went for it. Glad we did because it was the best day in several days. We were catching one randomly here and there and then they bunched up and fed in the mouth of a creek under some active seagulls and we had a run of catching multiple hookups! We are definitely hoping action like this continues!  Make sure you follow our Instagram Page!

Rain rain and more rain

Water elevation 616.91

Extremely windy and cold. No fishing again today. Mother nature can really kick your butt sometimes.

Water elevation 617.29
Water temperature 46-49

I didn’t have anybody booked for today so I went and looked around for a couple of hours early and it was windless and nothing was happening. Things will pick up soon.

2-15-20

Water elevation 617.41
Water temperature 48-49

Windy and slow. The striped bass are being very hard to catch right now.

2-16-20

Water elevation 617.50
Water temperature 49-51

Absolute dead calm day. It was really a beautiful day to be on the lake in February. We worked really hard for what fish we got to bite. We tried multiple techniques and really the only thing that would work was fishing points and structure everything bit in or near 15 feet of water. Some of these days we are literally just beating them to death trying to get a strike!

2-17-20

Water elevation 617.73
Water temperature 49-52

Another beautiful day on the lake but with heavy winds. Today was one of those days where the wind was your friend we caught them good! Actually the best day since last Monday and it really looked like they were starting to wake up spring style but here comes another cold front. We will see how they react to the front it can go either way! We definitely need some stability in the weather to get these fish in a pattern!

2-18-20

No go. Bad weather from mother nature sure has been kicking our butts this last few weeks.

2-19-20

Headed out around 10 AM to see what kind of mood the fish were in. Checked lots of spots for bites. It was a one here one there kind of day but we got some put together. I was happy I got the guys some action. All these roller coaster water levels and passing fronts are really making it tricky but everything will settle down soon.

2-20 to 2-24

Off to Mardi Gras….boys said it was a slow weekend. Still on that up-and-down roller coaster pattern.

2-25-20

The horrible wind?  Had to reschedule

2-26-20

I went out just for a little bit again very very windy and only caught a few. We decided to finally come in and take a break to warm up. After warming up The wind had kicked up even higher and we then decided to not go back out. I will fish in the rain. I will fish in the cold and I will also fish in the wind but when you put them altogether it sure makes it very tough.

2-27-20

Boat maintenance! It is never fun but definitely a necessity to keep the stuff running smoothly.

2-28 & 29

Absolute grind both days. It has been TOUGH out there lately. It seems to be about one fish an hour for the most part. Just one of those really tough times out here on Lake Texoma with the passing fronts and rising and lowering of the lake levels. It’s not the first time I’ve seen it in one of these funks but I never ever find a way to enjoy it. My clients were running jugs and they caught almost as many and bigger Striper on shad on the bottom hook in deep water than we did fishing all around the lake.

3-2 thru 3-4

Bad weather on the water but when we got out we caught a few and it seemed like it was improving. Hard to tell how much it’s improving when you have weather systems like that with threatening rain and it wasn’t a cold rain so it seems to be turning things around we will find out a whole lot more on Thursday when the clouds go away and the sun is back out.

Water temperature 50-53
Water elevation 615.12

Today was a much better day on the lake. We had two boats out and both boats caught fish! And to top it off it was excellent weather and really good fishing for March. Had the same guys one year ago and the highs were in the mid20s and it was frozen day on the lake but we caught some really big fish. One year later nice daylight Northwinds you just never know what mother nature has in store for you. The fish were clinging tight to structure and ledges around 12 to 25 feet of water but a couple of times we lucked into a little bit of bird activity up in shallower water helped us have little runs of catching. Spring break officially begins tomorrow and the next three weeks will be boatloads of families and kids fishing! We sure hope we have great action for these youngsters they are our future anglers!

3-6-20
Water elevation 615.09
Water temperature 51-53

Had several boats out again today as it is the beginning of spring break and that means it’s time to take those kids fishing. The fishing was fair to great depending on where you were at!  We are seeing more activity and it seems like the spring bite has begun. The pattern is pretty much the same…we are fishing anywhere from 10 to 30 foot of water along ledges, creek channels and drop-offs near stump fields but if you are there at the right moment when they get active a few birds will help show the way and you can load up quick otherwise it is one here and one there. It sure is great to be putting fish in the boat more consistently!  For more information please follow Lake Texoma Fishing Guides.
